Civilian Marksmanship Program pays tribute to a local veteran at the Burnt Powder Festival ~ Montevideo’s Annual Goose, Duck & Pheasant Hunt Community Celebration Banquet this Saturday, October 19th

On Saturday, October 19th the Patriot Award will be presented to a local veteran who has demonstrated valor in military service and a continued dedication to his fellow Americans after returning from service.  This hometown hero will be honored at the Community Celebration Banquet following the Burnt Powder Festival ~ Montevideo’s Annual Goose, Duck & Pheasant Hunt.

The patriot award is commemorated by the presentation of a beautiful antique M1 Garand rifle and certificate.  The M1 Garand was an infantry man’s best friend in WWII, and along with Rosie the Riveter symbolizes American valor and courage.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program is a congressionally created patriotic organization that was originally founded by President Teddy Roosevelt and once a part of the United States Army itself.

Everyone is welcome to join in this community celebration.  For time, location and details please contact the Montevideo Area Chamber at 320.269.5527.

This project was made possible by Montevideo Area Chamber of Commerce, the Montevideo Convention and Visitor’s Bureau board and the Civilian Marksmanship Program.
